There's no way I'm going to be getting anywhere near $100 which I can freely spend.

As I said earlier, there's no way I can actually upgrade. So, you won't see a magical performance boost. So, you won't see a magical performance boost.Īlso, I doubt your graphics card will even support DirectX 12. I'd look for a new PC, bro.Īlso, I doubt your graphics card will even support DirectX 12. Your CPU clock is awful, GPU is bad, your hard drive is very slow by any standard, and the only redeeming factor at all in your laptop is its RAM. Also, Skyrim wasn't graphically intensive when it released in 2011. 3 years ago, it would have been a bit below average.

If it really is the case of the processor, then there isn't really much I can do about it but I was wondering if there were any software optimizations that might help, even if it's just a little bit.Īnd, just for fun, I'm trying the game out on a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 system with AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics.Īnd, just for fun, I'm trying the game out on a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 system with AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics. I think it might be good to mention that there aren't any lag spikes when I play (even with my busy and highly dense and crowded city), and there aren't any random, short freezes either. I just used Crysis as an example of what my laptop won't run well at good graphics settings. The hard drive is a 1TB, 5400RPM Hitachi drive.Īs it may appear, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I didn't actually (or at least directly) compare Crysis to Cities: Skylines. It has 8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, and is expandable to 16GB of DDR3-1600 RAM. It has the AMD Radeon HD 7660G APU graphics and the AMD Radeon HD 7670M dedicated graphics with 2GB of dedicated video memory. Thermal throttling is not an issue, as I have a metal cooling pad with multiple, powerful cooling fans. My laptop has a 2.3GHz quad core AMD A10-4600M APU which can boost up to 3.2GHz. Most probably your CPU and/or RAM are the problem here, not the GPU Phoenix C64 původně napsal:how much RAM do you have? do you have an SSDĪnd don't compare games like Crysis (heavy GPU usage) to next gen city builders (heavy CPU usage)

I'm hoping for some kind of improvement with Windows 10 and DirectX 12, but I don't want to wait a month for that. Does anyone have any suggestions, besides telling me to upgrade? I'm kind of jobless and my parents are the last people who'd be willing to spend more than $50 on something for me. The performance isn't horrible - it averages roughly 20 frames per second, and it's still playable by my book, but I wish it were better.

Take Skyrim for example - on my external 1080p monitor and (relatively) high graphics, it runs at roughly 33-37 frames per second at 1080p, and even better on the laptop's built-in 1366x768 display, or the same framerate at very high settings.Ĭities: Skylines, on the other hand, is a little disappointing for me because I have not yet encountered a game that performed bad. Unfortunately, I got it at a time when I had very little knowledge when it came to what I needed to play games but the thing is, this laptop does play whatever I throw at it quite admirably (except for terrifyingly demanding games like Crysis, but I'm not into those games anyway). I have a laptop which features an AMD A10-4600M APU with AMD Radeon HD 7670M 2GB graphics.
